Capitalism is the Solution to this Human Disaster

Reader comment on item: Europe under Siege

Dr. Pipes said, "With no solutions in sight, however, there is every reason to expect these problems to worsen." I disagree.

The solution is in plain view for everyone to see. The solution is laissez-faire capitalism. Dr. Andrew Bernstein has shown in his new book "The Capitalist Manifesto" that capitalism has, everywhere it was applied, unshackled the inventors and innovators even in desparately poor nations. These unshackled innovators go on to immensely improve the productivity and standard of living for everyone in their nation -- e.g. semi-capitalist nations like Britain and America or city-states like Hong Kong.

Feudal Britain of the 1600s was no better off than today's African nations and had far fewer natural resources. What immensely raised Britain's, Europe's, and America's standard of living in the 1700s and 1800s was the Enlightenment ideas of and commitment to: reason, freedom of thought and action, and individual rights including absolute property rights. Today the inventors, innovators, and businessmen in the dictatorships and failed socialist nations of Africa, of the Middle East, and Mexico are being stifled and/or killed by their own governments. The solution for these nations and cultures is to cleanse themselves of their altruist-collectivist-statist philosophy that perpetually keeps them in ignorance, poverty, disease, and death.

Who can blame the oppressed, independent thinkers of these nations from trying to enter a more rational nation with "the life-giving code of egoism-individualism-capitalism" even if they have to risk their life to do it ?
