Reader comment on item: "Today Gaza, Tomorrow Jerusalem"

Submitted by SteveGW (Australia), Aug 10, 2005 at 23:56

Those who are opposed to the Gaza evacuation should offer some alternative that they prefer and which is politically possible. The status quo is untenable; incorporation of Arab populations is impossible; expulsion of Arab populations is impossible and bad; and so on. Waiting for the situation in the disputed territories to improve so as to allow a negotiated solution has been tried and found wanting. It's time to wrap this up.

And to a previous commenter: yes, we should be concerned that the affected Arabs are treated well, their human rights respected, dignity preseved, and all good things. But most of that is beyond the competence of the Israelis.
