Reader comment on item: Turkish Support for ISIS

Submitted by Ludvikus (United States), Jun 23, 2014 at 10:02

In my view, it would be a grave mistake mistake

for the US to intervene in Iraq in the name

of preserving the sovereign territorial integrity

of the already divided country.

This has the potential to become a proxy war between Turkey and Iran

in support of the Sunni and Shia'a causes respectively.

Whatever happens, the US will get the blame by the respective Islamist.

There is a third alternative - support the Kurds and emerging Kurdistan on the ground.

Heed the (Strategic) advise of Iranian Ayatollah (below).

And ay the very least

wait and see what happens to the 100 Turkish hostages in Iraq

over which Turkish PM Erdogan has imposted court-sanctioned media silence.
