Pipe's Error

Reader comment on item: The Middle East Forum Debates Moderate Islam

Submitted by Nathan Deutsch (United States), Mar 30, 2014 at 14:01

Mr. Pipe's position is in error here. He claims certain branches of Judaism and Christianity are "important" thereby implying that their acceptance of male homosexual activity is valid. Errant and transient versions of Judaism that have sprung up over the millennia have never proved to be "important" in the long term and neither will their current incarnations. Orthodox Judaism, the only really important branch has never, does not now, and will never conceivably condone homosexual acts, renegades notwithstanding. So similarly, all indications are that the monolithic Islamic Umma will never concede to Mr. Pipe's laundry list of things "civilized" Muslims must "reinterpret." If such a thing were possible can Mr. Pipes explain why it has not yet happened?

Congratulations Mr. Ibrahim for hitting this nail squarely on the head.
