If Hezbollah and Hamas were violent white groups, there would be a stronger reactionReader comment on item: Can Hezbollah and Hamas Be Democratic? Submitted by Octavio Johanson (Italy), Mar 22, 2005 at 13:33 Hezbollah and Hamas come under the category of Militant Islam. In recent years, criticism of Militant Islam has been equated with racism and bigotry, hence Hezbollah and Hamas are treated as respectable counter-parts. We cannot be intimidated by name-calling and give in to far-left liberals. Militant Islam is not an acceptable counter-part and no Western country shall negotiate with them. We don't need to engage in anti-Islamic invectives. We need to stand firm and true to our values. Hezbollah and Hamas cannot be admitted to the international discourse. If Hezbollah and Hamas were violent white groups, there would be no discourse with them. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
