I share your skepticism about the intentions of groups like Hezballah, but not your conclusions.

Being involved in politics means being public and working out compromises. Those two acts will change a Terrorist organization. It may not change their over all goals or ideology, but should they wish to carry on a terrorist agenda after they can demonstrate support at the ballot box, Israel or the United States will have much more international legitimacy wiping them out--Along With Their Constituencies.
