It is now Feb 2010, 5 yrs. after the question was asked "Can hamas be democratic?" it is still , NO ! ! !Reader comment on item: Can Hezbollah and Hamas Be Democratic? Submitted by Phil Greend (Canada), Feb 11, 2010 at 02:00 I am sorry, but there is no way that hamas, or the p.l.o. or the nazi party et al will ever be democratic. It is not in their nature to allow free thought. People thinking for themselves is the opposite of the koran. The "prophet mohammed" clearly taught that asking too many questions of him was wrong and that islam had all of the answers. Societies that are islamic have no freedom. Not of the press or religion or expression and anything for that matter. Democracy is all about the free exchange of ideas and debate. Islam is the opposite.
