Appropriateness of this article

Reader comment on item: What Is Israel's Next Move In The New Middle East?
in response to reader comment: 'Allah,' Is Not the God of the Bible

Submitted by Nick Lim (New Zealand), Oct 19, 2013 at 00:43

I have a few things to say.

First of all, I am annoyed that this article is one of the primary sources used to to justify banning the use of the word "Allah" among native Malay speaking Christians in Malaysia. http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/sideviews/article/appeal-court-inept-judgment-based-on-internet-research-ng-kam-weng

While I am sure this is not the intent of the author but i would like to ask if this article edifies or build the church in any way.

Secondly, I am not sure if you are aware of this, but the word God is derived from the Germanic word Gott which comes from Goden ( The Invoked) and has roots with the Norse deity Odin. Having said that, I have no qualms with using the word God to refer to our God Almighty, as our Lord is not finite and limited to a "word"

Please don't take the tone of this comment to be hostile in any way, I am just annoyed that Christians who can only speak the Malay Language (or Iban Language) are to have their Bibles banned. We all live in dark times, and persecutions are to be expected, but one can not see their fellow brothers and sisters in their country having the practice of their faith stymied and not feel anger and annoyance
