Reader comment on item: What Is Israel's Next Move In The New Middle East?
in response to reader comment: 'Allah,' Is Not the God of the Bible

Submitted by DI, Oct 7, 2016 at 22:31

As a Christian Arabic speaker, you do not get to decide that our language and our translation of the Bible shouldn't call God "Allah" we have been calling God Allah since some Christians started speaking Arabic, there will be no changing it now or ever. Take some lessons in linguistics. There's no way a new word would be created anyway. Allah is the word for a monotheistic God.

English speaking Muslims say God too, not just Allah, you don't see me suggesting we change the English word for a monotheistic God. Arabic speaking Jews also say Allah and English speaking Jews also say God. I'm actually angry it was said the word "Allah" should not be used in our Bible.

One final point, when English speakers witness to muslims using the word God, muslims understand our God is monotheistic like theirs. It's the same thing in Arabic, if we made a new word for God, muslims would be confused when we'd witness to them, they wouldn't be familiar with it.
