Life Precedes RightsReader comment on item: To Profile or Not to Profile? Submitted by T. B. Roberts (United States), Sep 21, 2004 at 21:44 Dr. Pipes: Next time you have an occasion, please remind the staff of Amnesty International that human rights begin with human life. The Islamic Jihadis are trying to kill as many Americans, Jews, Christians, Hindus, and other "infidels" as possible. Protecting those lives gives us the right to scrutinize those who typically affiliate with the source of the threat. I would rather compensate an innocent detainee for a year of confinement than have to compensate tens of thousands of family members for the deaths of their loved ones.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
