Reader comment on item: To Profile or Not to Profile? [The Abdullah al-Kidd Case]

Submitted by RP (Australia), Sep 28, 2004 at 02:15

Hi Daniel, ALL,

We might also say that we would never wear a coat in the summer. Does this mean that if it gets really cold and/or rainy that we cannot wear a coat, just because it seemed right at some time in the past? No, of course not. We must be flexible so that we can deal with the environment we live in.

And by this I don't mean getting rid of the cornorstones of our society. But profiling is not a cornorstone of this great nation.

I say to anyone who is against profiling, what do you have to hide?!

This will also enable anti-terror efforts to be focused on the terrorist rather than on nine year old children and eighty year old grandmothers. Where would companies be if they could not segment their markets? They would be less productive, products would cost more, and dividends would be less. Let's stop wasting our resources and attack the terrorists who enjoy to hide amidst the innocent. How many more throats must be slit before we get serious about this?!

Here we are 3 years since 9/11 and we are still debating little things like this? The enemy can move faster than we can, but do you really want to live under that regime? Sure, there will be peace, once they are in control of you and all that is valuable to you! I would rather have peace that is based on FREEDOM as we know it. Don't you?

Making profiling an essential part of our world is such a small price for those that oppose it, except the terrorists of course!
