Moderate IslamReader comment on item: Moderate Islam: Western Ally or Western Myth? Submitted by KEN PERLMAN (United States), Dec 28, 2009 at 19:19 Earlier this year, I went to a speech given by Mr. Pipes where his formulation of "moderate Islam" being the cure to "radical Islam" came up. I question whether there is in fact any significant "moderate Islam" or whether the vast majority of Moslems were simply standing on the sidelines waiting to see if the radical Islamists prevail. Despite being numerically the greatest victims of radical Islamists, the supposedly moderate majority has made little or no effort at combatting them (certainly not as much as the effort to take offense or find Islamaphobia everywhere they look as per CAIR and other groups like it). At present, moderate islam as a countervailing force to the Islamists is more hopeful fantasy than any concrete reality.
