Mohammed the mouldReader comment on item: Moderate Islam: Western Ally or Western Myth? Submitted by Jim Beam (Germany), Dec 30, 2009 at 00:15 As long as Mohammed is the mould how can Islam moderate itself? It's dynamic will always be derived from the life of Mohammed which can never be changed. The Koran and Mohammed stand or fall together. Was Mohammed's life characterised by moderation? Islam can only be moderated by force and restraint from a source external to itself, i.e. the "secular" , non-theocratic, non-Islamic state in some form or another. Anything else is wishful thinking in my opinion. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
