Reader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Cairo Speech

Submitted by B.N.Gururaj (India), Jun 8, 2009 at 09:03

We have heard a million times that Islam is a religion of peace. Except that the preachers of myth cannot substantiate it based on Koran or the Sunnah of the prophet. No one tells us why all the muslim terrorists are inspired by their religion. Islam has left a bloody trail through its fourteen centuries of history. But, President Obama assertively tells us that Islam is not even a part of the problem. Then, who is inspiring the poor and the rich muslims alike to sacrifice the life of this world for the merits to be earned on the day of judgement? This approach of President Obama is typical of leaders who are faced with the gangsterism of Islamism. Instead of facing the problem head on, they praise the aggressor.

This was precisely the mistake committed by Mahatma Gandhi during India's freedom struggle. In spite of repeated communal riots started by Muslims starting with failure of Khilafat movement in 1920s, not a decade passed without major riots resulting in the death of thousands and thousands of Hindus. Yet, the Mahatma (great soul!) continued to believe that Islam was an inexperienced and young religion and tended to commit mistakes. He never realised that it was the very nature of Islam to be aggressive against the infidels until they were either finished off, or were converted to Islam.

This ostrich mentality of Mahatma Gandhi, further followed up in Independent India by Jawaharlal Nehru has cost India dear. It resulted in dividing India into two countries, and also created a permanently hostile country (now, two with Pakistan and Bangladesh on either side of India), not to speak of permanent sword of Kashmir hanging on India's head. I also wonder, is it a case "in God we trust, rest strictly cash"! While the US president keeps speaking these platitudes to the "Muslim world", he will keep his country in readiness to face any threat from the Islamic World? USA and the western world has to heed the warning of Indian history.
