Obama Kairo visit and speechReader comment on item: Assessing Obama's Cairo Speech Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Jun 4, 2009 at 17:35 Dr. Pipes is correct. Instead of proposing significant behavior modifications of the Islamic world Obama presented sugar coated words that have no substance or deep practical significance. He used several times the word respect but any ttrue respecct has to be earned by deeds., Instead of telling Moslems what could be corrected in their behavior and admitting that most of Moslem problems are rooterd in their primitive interpretation of Quran Obama tried to please Islamists telling them that their Islamo-fascism is OK. It might be highly undiplomatic to say that we are witnessing a clash of civilizations.Fighting terrorism without understanding the Islamic underpinnings of this barbaric idea will never be successful. In the 20th Century the West understood that the enemy was not Blitzkrieg unleashed by Hitler but the Hitlerian iideas explaind partly in Mein Kampf. Our struggle with terrorism will be futile as long as we think that Isam is peaceful and the terrorists are abnormal exceptions. Mr Obama should read the book Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali to learn more about Islam. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
