Ties with religionReader comment on item: Obama's Connection to Sirhan Sirhan Submitted by Carlso (United States), Nov 4, 2008 at 12:22 His father was of muslim origin, but his father left him when he was still a child, and we was raised by a true american family with no ties to Islam. When he went to Indonesia, most of the time he went to a catholic school. You should not call that to be a muslim. A true muslim must believe in the five pillars of Islam, like praying five times a day, fasting and going to Mecca. you can't tell a guy that goes to a protestant church to be a muslim. It seems that he does not feel muslim, since he frequents a christian church for so many years!!! Being friend of a muslim does not mean you are one. You should also point the so many times he met with jews the same way he has been met with buddhist, animist etc Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
