Quite right that Obama is juggling quite a bit, substance vs. situation, these days - there just might be video out there of him in attendance whilst Wright spouts his racial hatred.

Personally, I don't think Obama bright enough to weasel out of this one - like you comment, in trying to placate everyone, he's alienating everyone.

Obama should have catagorically denounced this particular Church, stating that any Church who would abide such pastoral instruction no longer could count on him as a member.

Obama would not loose the "black vote", as all blacks do NOT abide pastor Wright's diatribe.

I think it is obvious that Obama used Trinity Church as a "prop" for gathering votes, and later for disproving he's a Muslim.

He's more afraid of THAT truth coming out, ergo his "speech" trying to rationalize pastor Wright.
