My google search for "sudden jihad syndrome" picks up 60,000 hits. Either in a few days the number of uses has tripled, or you're much more discerning, Daniel, in what you consider a "citation".
In any case, yes, the term has caught on. It is more apt than some other terms that have unfortunate secondary meanings, like "Islamofascism" -- which has many more hits, but the majority of which appear to discuss the appropriateness of the name. I doubt many question the appropriateness of SJS, which is exactly what the name suggests.
