Sir:

It appears to me that not only the US Government but also any Communications Director for any Muslim group, including the well known and well nourished Hussein Ibish, either refuse to acknowlege that there is a major problem in the Muslim community or harp on how difficult it is to undercover any wrongdoings.

If not for the great work by Dr Pipes and his colleagues, we would have to rely on the superficial analysis performed by the world media, FBI, etc. on militant Islam.
