Afghanistan's Mujahedeen

This may be a good idea, but it bears some similarity to US support for Afghanistan's Mujahedeen in the 1980's. We helped them get the Russians out of Afghanistan, but they became the Taliban and we trained Osama bin Laden in the process. Sadly, this is a region with few good alternatives.
