In Honor and Memory of the Marines in Beirut

in response to reader comment: Never forget the murdered Beirut Marines!

My husband served in the Corps and was stationed in Beirut when the barracks were bombed by terrorists. He still suffers from the emotional impact of that experience, although he will not admit to having a problem because of it. I've heard him late at night struggling through terrible nightmares. He will not talk about it, never has, and swears he never will. When I tried to talk to him about it, he became upset and angry. I am left to wonder, how and why there wasn't more done to defend our Marines.

Our men were there in support of peace; it sickens me to this day to think of what they had to endure. Maybe I am just an ignorant civilian who can't begin to understand the politics behind it all....that must be it.

My prayers are with all those soldiers who served, who lost their lives, and those who came home hurting physically and emotionally because of what happened in Beirut, and I pray that they know in their hearts that someone out here really cares, and is praying for them. For what it's worth.

I, for one, will NEVER FORGET.
