Israel is not going away and the Jewish people are not going to go into gas chambers ever again. The west makes the simplistic assessment in a politically correct world that Islam like Christianity can function alongside other religions in a democracy which is simply not true and contrary to Islamic belief. When Islam is the predominant faith the other religions can exist as "dhimmis" or second class citizens as long as they keep their place. This was the historic positon of Islam- "we treated the Jews better than the Christians" which was true up until the last 50 years or so- but how were treated- as a necessary evil doing things Muslims were not allowed to do and as long as we kept to our station we were tolerated.

Israel is a Jewish state- it will remain a Jewish state but will have civil rights for non Jews. Hamas (which is a lot more candid than Fatah) lives with the delusion that somehow the Jews will disappear from the land and driven into the sea so that Palestine can become another beacon of Islamic democracy. Someone has to have guts to simply say "that is never going to happen" and if the would be Hitler in Tehran does not get it he should read the Book of Esther.
