Reader comment on item: [Hasan Akbar and] Murder in the 101st Airborne

It is entirely predictable (and lamentable) that Muslim groups and their left-liberal sympathizers will seize upon Dr. Pipes' observations as additional evidence that Dr. Pipes is rabidly anti-Muslim.

It is also entirely predictable (and lamentable) that Muslim groups, their left-liberal sympathizers, and their paleo-conservative fellow travelers will point to, for example, the support of Jewish neo-conservatives within the Bush administration for the Iraq war, as evidence that Jews have hijacked the instruments of government to promote the interests of Israel at the expense of America. And we have grown used to seeing the worst anti-Semitic violence since World War II in Europe, along with vicious, fact free broadsides directed against Israel. Yet, we are told that this is not anti-Semitism, and that those who label these practices as anti-Semitic are attempting to silence legitimate criticism of Ariel Sharon.

If patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels, then anti-Sharonism is the last refuge of anti-Semites.
