Peace treaty with Egypt

Reader comment on item: Rethinking the Egypt-Israel "Peace" Treaty

Submitted by Reuven Rashkovsky (Canada), Nov 21, 2006 at 10:24

Dear Mr. D. Pipes,

it is great to see that you've changed your position on Israeli-Egyptian "peace treaty". I wrote to you about a year ago about my concerns regarding Egyptian complicity in turning Gaza into a terrorist's heaven, loading the area with arms, and sabotaging Israeli effort of reaching some peace settlement with Palestinians.

As well, I "speculated" that all this was a part of larger picture of Egypt re-arming itself in order to be ready for the next round of hostilities with Israel. Your answer at that time was that you have no information supporting my views and therefore can not provide your opinion on the matter. It is great that now you can see what was open to every inquisitive eyes for a long time. I hope that Israeli government see this growing treat and is doing something about. Repetition of mistakes made before 1973 will be fatal next time.
