The Foremost American Haters

Reader comment on item: [Saudi Arabia:] Not Friend or Foe

I am an Indian immigrant in this country and never cease to admire or feel grateful for the plethora of opportunities it offers. I love America and would fight to defend it. This country needs more folks like Daniel Pipes tp prevent 9/11 - type attacks in the future. Why is it that most American citizens cannot take off their blinders and look at countries like Saudi Arabia for what they are. Saudi Arabia's press spews hatred of the US under the guise of being disgusted with America's support for Israel. A special term 'Kufr' is used to characterize non-Muslims in the most bigoted of fashions and this idea is a part of the curricula that kids learn at primary school. Islam they say saves Saudi Arabia from becoming a doghouse of immorality like America. The hollow sense of superiority comes not from superior contribution to science, technology, medicine, economics, law, mathematics, art, architechture, literature or politics, but is solely based on being the home to a religion founded 14 centuries back. The Saudis' contribution to any one of the above mentioned fields todate is zilch. Their educational institutions seem more interested in propounding more exalted concepts like kufr rather than menial Newtonian laws, so the contributions will remain at zilch for centuries to come. It is a disgrace to America that it is even compared to Saudi Arabia. We must wake up and tell the Saudis that they will not be safe if they actively fund terror groups to kill us. But as the writer pointed out here, America has erred in not developing an Arab like Saddam to keep the Saudis in check. As of today we don't have any effective leverage to rein them in even as they continue to fund terror that targets our children with impunity.
