Are There Smoldering Passions of Loss Waiting to be Reignited for a Response to Losing al-Zawahiri?

It would appear that with the elimination of al-Zawahiri, one chapter closes and another commences as we read of liomited reactions, apparently amongst the Taliban after they were bequeathed an American-free Afghanistan, but almost a year later, one of the most wanted and (up until now elusive) former bin Laden operatives has been dealt with in terms of extreme prejudice. But the question remains: how is the cost measured? The investment that the United States was force to make cannot truly be measured in the billions of the taxpayer treasure spent; only in terms of the lives that never would see a fulfilled destiny could there be an accounting of how much should have been alotted to the cause: but the return on the investment begs a review that would indicate if the enemy was no longer able to bring calamity to the American people, or to American allies.
With Afghanistan now in the hands of the agents of destruction that harbored and succored those who are responsible for bringing their most pungent form of hatred to the American ideal of freedom, twenty some odd years later, the books will not record this failure in a good light; but what will follow demonstrates nothing was learned by the current American 46th Administrative Chief Executive. Terrorist leader al-Zawahiri may indeed represent a physical threat, but that which he helped spawn has many accolytes just waiting for their moment; count on it.
