What specifically do you suggest Mr Pipes?

Given the recent track record of the UN and EU the chances of any decisive action over issuing vague platitudes seems rather likely. Indeed the German Chancellor has been angling to give Iran a carte blanch guarantee that no pre emptive military action will be taken against it, hardly the stuff that suggests the imposition of will, indeed from where I sit it would a clear signal to Iran ‘Carry on chaps, we wont do anything'.

It took 12 years of prevarication following their eviction from Kuwait by Iraq to finally prompted US led military action. Given that we are starting from an ostensibly lower threshold than existed following the ceasefire with Iraq signed in 1991, what chance is that the ‘International community' (read the US and possibly the UK with a few hangers on) will prevent Iraq getting the bomb.

After all nothing stopped the Islamic republic of Pakistan, and the international community, or at least those that matter knew his was going on.

Will it be left to Israel to make the decision to act unilaterally and pre-emptively like they did in 1983 when they bombed the Iraq nuclear facility (built with French technology), where will that leave us….further deionisation of Israel as the aggressor amongst the Ummah and the ‘liberal' media in the West. If I was an Israeli defence minister, given the bellicose backdrop from Iran, I would not be doing my job if I wasn't quietly telling the US ‘powers that be' …."You'd better sort this out before Iran gets it's bomb or we will be forced to act ourselves pre-emptively."
