Reader comment on item: Iran's Final Solution Plan

Submitted by John W. McGinley (United States), Nov 2, 2005 at 16:48

A very concise and precise review of a long-standing and ugly situation. I agree with Israeli intelligence assessments that Iran's ability to produce actual nuclear weapons and correlative ability to launch them successfully against Israel is much closer to fulfillment than many -- include here virtually all the West European democracies -- would like to believe. The only two players here who really matter are Prime Minister Sharon and President Bush.

I hope that they coordinate their planning and do WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep Iran's developing nuclear wapons capacity from becoming operational. The Nazi killing machine was very efficient. Yet it still took four years for the Nazi regime to eradicate one third of world Jewry. In a few months it may only take a half an hour to eradicate approximately half of present-day world Jewry.

Further, should such an obscenity occur it would mean the end of the Jewish state which now functions as the heart and soul of world Jewry. Without a vibrant state of Israel, even Jewry in the United States would disappear as a significant force within about three generations. President Bush's presidency will have been registered as a terrible failure unless he brings our intervention into Iraq to a successful denouement and unless he leaves office having, one way or another, secured the safety of our country and the world relative to Iran and its drive towards an operational nuclear option.

I do not count the North Korean threat as nearly dangerous as is the threat from Iran.]] Everything else -- from Katrina to "Scooter" -- from the point of view of history, is just a side show. And one more thing: The vaunted "liberalism" of Iranian youth and of the Iranian middle class ceases when it comes to Israel. The one unequivocal "success" of the Kholmeini Revolution was the instilling of Anti-Semitic poison into all levels of Iranian society. John McGinley
