Islamists hypocrisy

Reader comment on item: Foreword: Why Islam's Reformers are Vitally Important

Submitted by Abdel Rahman Jamil, Jul 18, 2017 at 09:28

Palestinian islamists are making a fuss because Israeli security forces installed electronic checking devices on entry to the mosque in Jerusalem. Instead they are showing their refusal of the Israeli step by praying outside the gates of the mosque. They never show the same rejection when they accept to go through several electronic security checking gates before they are allowed to enter Mecca for their pilgrimage. Did they pray outside Mecca in rejection? I wonder!

Daniel Pipes replies:

Good point.

I know there are security cameras at the Grand Mosque in Mecca (see https://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2016/05/26/Saudi-Arabia-installs-new-security-cameras-in-Makkah.html) but are there also security check points?

That certainly makes sense, given the mosque seizure in 1979.
