America and Europe both live in a schizophrenic unreality

Hi, Charles Just to be brief, the American electorate is getting weird. Increasingly, two diametrically opposed groups of Americans are getting their information from completely different sources -- neither of which necessarily has much connection to reality. This information includes values about what is important and what isn't. As a result, you can say what you want to half of America about foreign policy; but it will fall on deaf ears, because the media bubble they live in does not acknowledge any reality outside of the US other than a pasteboard charicature of the evil Israeli Jew. Trump? Has he been nominated? The last I checked, the big money donors were backing Rubio the Wimp. We'll see how that all pans out.

On a more practical level, DEBKA notes that the West is starting to succumb to Turkish blackmail. We all want the Turks to stop shooting down Russian planes and otherwise behaving themselves; and they hold tremendous leverage by controlling the refugee tap into Europe (which fer Euroleaders acknowledge as a problem but all realize is a disaster). Besides placating the Turks, countries like Germany and France (and the US, to some degree) are talking about pouring money and troops into the "fight against ISIS" at the same time that they are paying blackmail to the Turks, who are ISIS's mainstay of support. The West cannot continue to shoot itself in the foot like this for very long, before it does itself serious injury. Ciao.
