Reader comment on item: Niqab Security Outrages at Airports

Submitted by Jim (Canada), Nov 6, 2015 at 21:04

Similarly, in 2010, I had an airline connection in Calgary, Alberta, Canada during a solo trip home to Toronto. Ahead of me clearing through the very last Security checkpoint before boarding were 2 people in Niqabs where all you culd see of them were their eys. I don't know for certain what the Airport Security staff said to them, regardless these 2 people simply and silently handed their documentation over, and with nothing more said, Security simply handed their doumentation back and nodded them forward.

I like to think I'm a brave man but I have to admit I really was shaken, and quite literally shaking given the fact 2 people wearing disguises and who were NOT frisked even though the metal detector was shrieking were getting on my airplane. If my wife and kids were with me would I have behaved differently? If you see something, you're supposed to say something, right? Right?
