Reader comment on item: Niqab Security Outrages at Airports

Submitted by Catrina Velez (United States), Aug 11, 2010 at 03:17

We have to enforce our laws , especially regarding airport security. Waving these walking cocoons through without proper identification creates a privileged class and that is contrary to the principles of democratic equality. Anyone who wears clothing that conceals facial identity should be courteously asked to step into a side room and reveal their face to a same-gender security guard instead of to the whole crowd in the passenger terminal. This goes for guys in hoodie jackets and mirror sunglasses, women in burkhas and men with their heads wrapped all around with red checkered cloth. If the passenger refuses to be identified, then NO BOARDING PASS. I am not going to listen to protests about offending these people's religious sensibilities when they would pooh-pooh my concerns about safety and security
