Hi, Tovey

In my last post, which I think was on this forum, I had gotten sucker-punched by DEBKA in to saying that the Chinese aircraft carrier (the Liaoning) had docked in Syria in support of the Russian intervention there. Here's the sequence of events -- posted on the Internet, which is always true:

English.news.cn 2015-06-12 17:36:24
QINGDAO, June 12 (Xinhua) -- "Liaoning", China's first aircraft carrier, on Friday left a military port in Qingdao in Shandong Province, east China, to undertake a training and testing mission.

As of today September 24th 2015 China has announced it will be joining Russia in supplying "aerial support" for their Russian and Syrian allies. Along with a small fleet of battleships with a contingent of military advisors. They are expected to arrive within 6 weeks.

As US President Barack Obama welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House on Friday, Sept. 25, and spoke of the friendship between the two countries, the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning-CV-16 docked at the Syrian port of Tartus, accompanied by a guided missile cruiser. This is revealed exclusively by DEBKAfile.

There's no Chinese aircraft carrier in Syria

There is zero likelihood that the actual aircraft carrier Liaoning is even scheduled to go to the Mediterranean in the near future, much less that it is already there.

US President lands American fighter on Chinese carrier; announces Russian "mission completed" in Syria

That makes the "Super Moon" a less than awesome event. It heralded yet another escalation by the Russians, in what may become their new Vietnam War; that's about it.
