There Was No Mistake About It

Reader comment on item: The Liberty Incident: The 1967 Israeli Attack on the U.S. Spy Ship

I read this and cannot believe it. It was a Clear day, the USS Liberty and the Egyptian ship it was supposedly mistaken for look nothing alike, and Isreli planes had flown over the ship earlier in the day! When pilots are sent on a mission they are not only given their mission, they are supplied with pictures of the intended targets and most can identify the ships by their shape and size alone. This was the first incident where a rescue mission answering the call of the ship being attacked was called back! The IMF did indeed try to sink the ship and kill everyone aboard as witnessed by them machine-gunning life rafts in the water!
If you know any fighter pilots ask them what they think when given all the facts and see if they think it was truly an accident of mistaken identity!
