Huma, the portion of verse you quoted from Sura 5:32 is an out of context response that many Muslim apologists liberally state in order to make Islam appear "peaceful". As Dr. Pipes pointed out, the very next verse Sura, 5:33, negates what you were proclaiming about.the verse applying to Islam. Additionally, when we research the origin of the verse you will see that it was written in the Jewish teachings to begin with, long before Islam:

"He who saves one life... it is as if he saves an entire universe. He who destroys a life... it is as if he destroys an entire universe" TALMUD - Sanhedrin 4:5

Again, Muslim apologists have many times quoted Jewish text to try to prove the validity and harmlessness of Islam. Yes, really!

One such example is where Muslims credit the Qur'an with the saying which proclaims that "if one person is killed, it is as if all of mankind has been killed." The fact is: That is not even an Islamic teaching to begin with; it came from the Jewish teaching as cited above and also found in Mishna 5 which states:

3) "Therefore but a single person was created in the world, to teach that if any man has caused a single life to perish from Israel, he is deemed by Scripture as if he had caused a whole world to perish; and anyone who saves a single soul from Israel, he is deemed by Scripture as if he had saved a whole world."

This was a teaching of the Sanhedrin (Judaism).
