The author of the Quran is a little bit smarter than you are. After all, he is a man who transformed a rag tag bunch of desert heathens into the largest empire the world had yet seen.

The Quran doesn't say that alcohol is totally good or totally bad. The quran merely states that alcohol has some benefits, but is mostly harmful...something that modern medicine backs up rather emphatically.

The Quran is very careful in generally avoiding absolute statements. In this it differs from most religious texts and offers a testament to its uniqueness.
