Deuteronomy 9:6

Reader comment on item: Claiming Jerusalem is in the Koran

Submitted by Abu Nudnik (Canada), Mar 7, 2012 at 10:55

A risible comment for a number of reasons the most important one being that it's hardly a flattering depiction of the chosen people, proving that being chosen had nothing to do with being good but being chosen to spread the word of God.

"Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people."

It follows: "Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD."

If I were forging something for my own benefit, I'd probably refrain from insulting myself.

Also, is the author aware of the fact that the Hebrew Bible was translated into at least Greek, Latin, Syriac and Coptic before Mohamed? Does he really suggest that religions and peoples so separate geographically and theologically all colluded to deprive a religion of its glory that hadn't yet been born?

Hosein is breathing paint fumes.
