10% of the middle east is still Christian

Dear Dr Pipes:

Your reader Naushad Omar will like us to admire Islamic nations because 10% of the middle east is still Christian. Talk about setting low standards! Let me remind Naushad Omar that, first, percent of Christian population in most middle eastern countries is well below 10%, and, second, if there are 10% Christians in a region where Christianity was born then it is not something for Muslim societies to be proud of. As far as Spain is concerned Muslims captured Spain via brutal wars so at any given time of history Arab/Islamic rule in Spain was unacceptable.

Naushad Omar, like most Islamists, sees Islam with a very forgiving eye. Islam's political history is full of many unacceptable actions that should be acknowledged and opposed.
