Reader comment on item: Ambitious Turkey
in response to reader comment: Dellusions of Grandeur - A bit of humility may be warranted, dear Turkish friends

ı dont think that any turk can claim that turkey is a world economic power or super power. but we are regional power for sure. we only claim that we know islam and arab countries including libya, much better than western imperialists.arabs respect us much more. libya has rival tribes in it. so it will take longer for kaddafi to go.this is our area and we have the right to be in good relations with all our neighbours .

our mavi marmara revolt against israel has started the revolutions in arab countries. arabs reailised that their leaders are western spies. democracy and islam can be compatible with no problems. it is a western imperializms propaganda that islam is a dangerous cult.it is not islams fault if muslim people are backward. american politics is not liked in turkey by 95%. but although we consider america as the worlds number one gang ,we turks generally find it normal that strong ones eat weaks in this life. so it is the rule of nature. this is why when we meet individual americans or armenians or jews we can not feel any bad feelings. this is life.once upon a time we were like this also.
