Reader comment on item: Admitting Censorship due to Islamist Intimidation

Submitted by Does not matter (Canada), May 5, 2010 at 23:11

Hi there. I have been following this blog for about 2 days now and I see that people are talking about Islamic extremists and yada yada. Ok let me clarify this: TRUE Muslims are not violent extremists. Secondly I would like to point out that in Islam it is actually okay to depict the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and his close descendants AS LONG as they are represented with due respect and it does not detract the person from their spiritual value. Isn't that fair? .The danish cartoon depicted the Prophet with the utmost disrespect which is why all muslims condemn it. Some so-called "muslims" make threats and go to great lengths to "get revenge". But in reality these people are not muslim. REAL muslims use peaceful protest to show their opposition.

The real problem is not all black and white. Its a combination of problems. One being that people (in this case Americans) don't know when to draw the line. Its always getting the next jump; trying to provoking people and challenging ideas. But the question is: is that jump or adrenaline or whatever worth the effort? .Another thing is the fact that there are extremists who take the Quran literally word for word or create their own interpretations. This is also wrong. Those people are NOT muslim. A real muslim does not blindly read the Quran and interpret the words for themselves. ALSO: the organization known as REVOLUTION ISLAM is not islamic at all. Those people are lunatics and I hope they go to hell. I was just watching CNN and it was anderson cooper talking to Bill Maher. I was just amazed at the level of illiteracy of Bill Maher who has never read the Quran yet claims Islam is a violent religion. So please before you call Islam a violent religion, look into it. Pick up and read the Quran ( I would recommend you buy from a reliable source). I am very distressed by the amount of hatred put towards Muslims. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
