Reader comment on item: Admitting Censorship due to Islamist Intimidation
in response to reader comment: RESPECT

Submitted by CanadianChris (Canada), May 16, 2010 at 12:49

Where is the Muslim outcry when any of the other religions are satirized? Respect for one equates to respect for all. There is no room to place one religion or religious figure above another in secular media. The fear that exists in the media regarding Islamic reactions to such portrayals whether they are respectful or not is evidence that Islam is the bully on the playground, and no one actually respects the bully, they merely go through the necessary requirements until the bully is taken down, and then everyone cheers at the fall of the bully, or at least learns a new level of respect for the bully when he learns the lessons he needs to learn. People love to see a bully put in his place, which is a place that is lower than the weakest of those who used to fear his strength. The bully only gains true respect when he realizes that fear only creates a temporary place of power. It is human nature to want to be free of the power of the bully. Christianity has had difficulty learning this lesson over the years, but hopefully the painful lessons of the illusion of progress through strength and fear are learned by religions.
