Wishful thinking

I'm sorry Daniel but I strongly disagree. You might have some of the facts correct but you conclusion just doesn't add up. It's wishful thinking at this juncture to say the Palestinians are starting to give up their campaign of terror. As I see it the leadership of both the PLO (Arafat etal.) and Hamas, Islamic Jihad et al. ) could care less what their own people think, feel or anything else. The fanatics still have all the power, money, food and weapons and as long as they do they're going to use the rest of the Palestinians as cannon fodder for as long as they want to. The majority are a herd of frightened sheep which have every reason to be afraid of what their own leadership and fellow citizens will do to them if they protest or fight back against the fanatics around them. Until they are more afraid of the Israelis then their own people, nothing will change.

During WW2 the Russians used to place armed KGB units behind their troops with orders to shoot anyone who marched in the wrong direction. Today on the West Bank and Gaza a similar same situation exists and most of the population is therefore more inclined to die as martyrs for the Jihad then as traitors who are seen as carrying out the demands and wishes of the enemy. (Israel and the U.S.)
