Islamists don't wear badges

Reader comment on item: Moderate Muslims March in Phoenix

Submitted by Howard Graves (United States), May 3, 2004 at 05:17

I can and do respect the good intentions of any American who supports the "goodness" of the Muslim community in our country. I really don't care about a person's religious inclination. What bothers me though is that only the Muslim community - of the universe of religious communities - nurtures a radical group that seeks to overthrow our Constitution and do serious harm to those around them who do not believe as they do. Those that do are reluctant to display openly on their lapels the symbol of Islamism, but only a universal pin that says I am a Muslim. If the non-extreme part of Muslim community in unwilling to identify, to purge and and label the extremists, then they must accept the idea of stereotyping.
