Reader comment on item: Moderate Muslims March in Phoenix

Submitted by Peter J. Herz (Taiwan), May 1, 2004 at 01:26

So what if Dr. Jasser managed to attract only 30-100 of his co-religionists and a lot of kaffirin (or ahl-al-qitab?)? Everything starts small. Maybe next time, more will come out.

On the other hand, the present day radicalism of the Islamic world, which is as self-destructive as it is anti-Western, could well represent the self-destruction of a relgion. The answer to this problem is to take people like Dr. Jasser at their word and continue to show respect; keep our cool about Muslim-origin people in our midst, since not everyone who calls himself a "Muslim" is in fact strictly so; and, when the bulk of them are fed up to the ears with the radicals, welcome them into the Christian churches of the land. It's already starting to happen.
