Thank you for helping me out with my questions. Regarding Syria, that's exactly what seems to be on the horizon. As you say, " Syria itself will be subjugated to conform to the Islamic model".

Regarding the possible return of the Golan, that's the most mystifying situation in Israel at the moment. Why would Olmert want to give up a key to its security in exchange for an agreement that can be easily broken by the Syrians? It seems that most Israelis are against it, yet Olmert keeps going ahead. It's his motivations I can't understand. Kadima already made a big mistake in surrendering Gaza. Olmert can't claim ignorance about the likely results of the loss of the Golan.

It is amazing how some things seem quite evident to the ordinary person, but not to those in power. And that's why I sent out my questions to Mr Pipes' website. Am I the only one who can't make sense of what leaders are doing in the ME? Apparently not.

I'm a practical person and I try to think logically, and what is going on in the world right now seems quite insane. Whether it's Stockholm Syndrome, corruption, blind ambition, hatred of Jews, or a combination of all that and much more, I don't know.

I keep hoping that something will happen in Israel that will show that Israelis have had enough. Maybe a new political party, or maybe a massive movement for early elections. Anything! Because every plan, every move by the present government, seems to be one conducive to Israel's destruction.
