Reader comment on item: Two Palestines, Anyone?
in response to reader comment: Tammy - a few thoughts

I really appreciate your response.

Regarding the alliance of Syria and Iran, you make sense. Perhaps they both fear an American intervention and are aiming to present a united front, if only to face the perceived threat. As you say, just like Hitler and Stalin. But we know what Germany did to its former ally, the USSR, and of course, we know what the Soviets did to the Germans. It's too bad the US did away with Saddam, the only one capable of taking on Iran.

I agree with your thoughts on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It's true that many think that Israel is the main obstacle to peace in the ME. But it's obviously not so. All they need to do is read statements by Muslim leaders who lash out at the West, not just Israel. Their statements are of contempt for the West in general, for its culture and its politics, and about Islam's long-term goal of conquering the entire world.

I read another comment you made regarding the goals of Hamas and Fatah being the same, and that is so true and evident, again, just by checking the record. Why have the American and Israeli governments chosen to look the other way instead of confronting Abu Mazen with his terrorist activities and his own statements in Arabic, where he pledges to conquer all of Israel.

That Israelis are tired of fighting, that may be true for a large number of Israelis. What is most perplexing is how they have turned against some of the most patriotic and committed of the Israelis: the Yesha people. I'm always shocked at the hateful type of language they use to refer to them, to say nothing of the way the Gush Katif residents were treated, reminiscent of the pogroms in old Europe. The Yesha people are the ones keeping the flame of Israel alive, yet they are so misunderstood.
