Reader comment on item: The Liberty Incident: The 1967 Israeli Attack on the U.S. Spy Ship

Submitted by Ronald G. Kukal (United States), Jun 25, 2003 at 08:16

I am constantly surprised by the naysayers that I have seen over
the years in these forums. What we have here are eyewitnesses
telling the truth of what they saw with their own eyes, against those
who just blindly believe what they want. The blind believers have used
every trick in the book to get one to believe that they know something
about this.

When a crime is committed and there is absolute proof that it was
done by a certain party, do we let them go because we don't know
the motive? I doubt it.

This was a well planned attack, and the Liberty was meant to go to
the bottom. I give my shipmates a lot of credit for keeping the Liberty
afloat, but to the naysayers I say it was. "Devine Intervention". I know
they don't know much about that, but many men who have been in
combat have said the same thing.

Just the simple fact that there has never been a Congressional Investigation,
and that some of the information still remains classified should tell the
average reader that there is something very wrong here. That information
has not been released even to this day, at least to my knowledge. It just
so happens that the surviving Liberty crew are the only ones who know
the truth, and so the only burden we really have is to tell the story that
is still kept under wraps by our own government.
