west must stand firm against muslim unreasonableness

Reader comment on item: Something Rotten in Denmark?

Submitted by american atheist (United States), Feb 2, 2006 at 22:56

I urge every one to try to find and purchase Danish products, particularly the ARLA company that is being targeted. Muslims know that by targeting a small company in a small country they might succeed, and set a pattern and precedent of intimidation.

Muslim speak of insult to Islam and their tradition and cultures, and demand and expect rights in the west to practice their religion as they see fit, yet they deny this basic right to people of other religions in many muslim countries.

By law in saudia arabia the life of a person is based on their religion, with jews and chirstian being 1/2 the muslim life (when paying damages) and hindus and atheist some 10%. In most muslim countries goverment jobs and positions in government require that applicant be a "good muslim" - people of other religion are denied these jobs. If muslims want fair and equal treatment they should accept, indeed demand, that muslim and their religion be so openly discriminated in the west. Saudi Arabia does not permit open practice of other religions, yet funds building of mosques in USA - do muslims believe this to be a fair and equal treatment. Muslims demand "respect" in the west - yet they do not have an ounce of respect for others.

I urge people in the west to do all they can to reject the intimidation of Islam. Let us not keep saying it is a minority of muslims who are unreasonable - I would think that vast majority of muslims have problems with free thought, free speech, freedom of religion, and equality of sexes. Their societies would be different otherwise. Muslims have a right to their way of life, they should not expect to impose it on others.

I would suggest that all contact between west and islam be stopped. If both sides wish to conduct any commerce, and only if both sides are willing to conduct this commerce voluntarily - some minimal, contact be conducted. Otherwise, west is doomed, this is cancer spreading. I do not wish to fight muslims, i merely wish to divorce them. I wish them luck to build their societies, and west needs to pay attention to our societies.
