('Danish/American:'If so, they must not be doing a very good job of it because until you mentioned the name, they were completely unknown to me...and I try to keep up with things going on in the world. I had to look them up online just to find out who they are.")

Hello Danish/American,

It surprises me that on one hand you are saying that you 'try to keep up with things going on in the world' but on the other hand, you never heard of Tamil Tigers. You said ‘ they (Tamil Tigers) must be doing a very good job..' while the fact is, the conflict killed about 64,000 people and displaced one million people in Sri Lanka. You have not heard about it may be because the victims were not westerners.

Since you have been writing about terrorism for quite a long time, I would request you to read books and search in the net on this subject. It is absolutely true that the world is now threathened by Islamic terrorists but terrorism is not a new phenomenon. Terrorism dates back as early as the 1st century. You may wish to read about non-state entities like IRA, Irish People's Liberation Organisations, Continuity Irish Republican Army, Irish Republican Brotherhood, RIRA, Provisional Irish Republican Army, INLA, The Shining Path, ETA, MPAJA, etc etc.

There are terrorist organisations based on other religions as well. For example: (Christian): Army of God, Freedomites active in Canada God's Army in Myanmar, Ku Klux Klan in USA, Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda (it wants to create a country based on the ten commandments), Nagaland Rebels in India and Burma, in India (it wants to create a Christian Tripura). National Liberation Front of Tripura,There are Hindu and Sikh terrorist organisations as well: Babbar Khalsa, Bhinderanwala Tiger Force of Khalistan, International Sikh Youth Federation, Dashmesh Regiment, Khalistan Commando Force, Khalistan Liberation Force, Khalistan Liberation Front ,Khalistan National Army,Khalistan Zindabad Force,Saheed Khalsa Force etc.

There are also homicidal destructive cults: Aum Shinrikyo (Japan), Ant Hill Kids commune, the RLDS splinter cult, Manson Family, Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God,Order of the Solar Temple,Peoples Temple, Heaven's Gate, House of Yahweh etc.

And of course, there are state sponsored terrorism (as a beginner, you may see Wikipeia by searching 'terrorism').

Hope you will find the above information useful.

Thank you.
