Let Me Be VERY Clear

Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: Red flag

Let me be VERY clear here; I am a Muslim woman, I'm married to a Muslim (obviously) Egyptian man for many years. If a MENA man EVER under any flipping circumstances not only ASKS you for money but even ACCEPTS you paying for anything in his physical presence, that is pretty much as good as a guarantee that you're dealing with trash. Okay? Do not read into it as you would with a western man; I do not care if his mother is dying of cancer or what the $&!? The situation is, a decent MENA man would rather lose his left nut or go peddle Kleenex and wash windows at a roundabout before he'd shame himself by taking money from a woman. It's not even necessarily his own personal code of conduct a much as it is a cultural one and the disdain for men would do so is very great in our countries. When I say my husband would not allow me to pay for our chicken shawarma ONE time when he forgot his wallet up in the flat when we were engaged, I mean that literally the man wouldn't permit me to cover the equivalent of $7 USD. What's my money is my money and what's his money is also my money, as Islam says. (Not in those words tho, I'm paraphrasing here clearly lol). But that's the truth; there's other red flags that can be trusted 100 percent of the time as well; see my previous posts from 2016-current for more detailed info and explanation if you care to know more, best of luck to you inshallah.
